The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Head of the Atomic Energy Commission, Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi, met with Ms. Jean Gerard Abaya, Director of the Department of Technical Cooperation in the Asia-Pacific Region at the International Atomic Energy Agency, on the sidelines of its sixty-seventh general conference.

In the presence of a number of international specialists in the field of nuclear applications, the two sides discussed aspects of cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency, especially scientific programs in the field of nuclear medicine and medical physics.

The Minister of Education confirmed the readiness of the specialized Iraqi staff to achieve the highest levels of scientific coordination for the purpose of training in diagnosis and treatment of cancer diseases and to activate national training centers for this scientific mission.

It is worth noting that the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Head of the Atomic Energy Commission, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, heads the Iraqi delegation participating in the work of the General Conference at its sixty-seventh session of the International Atomic Energy Agency in the Austrian capital, Vienna, for the period from 25 to 29 September 2023.
