The Associate Dean for Administrative Affairs at the College of Dentistry at Kerbala University, Prof. Dr. Ayed Hamid Hassan, participated in the discussion committee of a doctoral thesis at the University of Basra, College of Veterinary Medicine, for researcher Sarah Jaafar Saadoun, entitled Reproductive efficiency of male and female rats born from mothers with hypothyroidism during pregnancy and lactation.
The thesis aimed at investigating the negative effects of hypothyroidism on the first generation of newborns.
The thesis included a study of the negative impact of hypothyroidism developed during pregnancy and lactation on the reproductive efficiency of newborns when they reach sexual maturity by studying the hormones of the pituitary-gonadal axis, fertility rates and pregnancy
The study concluded that the reproductive performance of the above-mentioned children has decreased significantly
