The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, representing the Prime Minister, participated in the opening of the Fourth International Conference on Geographic Information Systems and Smart Cities, which is being held by the National Security Adviser.
In his speech, the Minister of Education praised this type of conference, which raises significant storms about geographic information systems and smart cities and stimulates public and private sector institutions to be part of the comprehensive transformation path towards digitization of details and service governance in general.
He explained during the conference, which came under the slogan (Geospatial Technologies and Smart Cities), that the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research relied on three simultaneous axes to enhance the areas of geographic information systems and move towards a sustainable smart city environment, pointing out that these axes were embodied in the creation of specialized departments and colleges that enhance the specialized scientific field. It provides work environments with qualifications, intensifies academic programs at the level of primary and postgraduate studies, contributes to workshops and conferences, and provides staff specialized in developing software environments responsible for incubating data and its indicators.
He continued that the information revolution in the world and the variables of the current reality indicate the need to enhance and develop skills, keep abreast of developments and respond to the requirements of sustainable development, calling at the same time for the continuation of the momentum of cooperation and integration between state institutions and their joints, strengthening their structure and embodying the national situation with a sense of belonging and cooperation that serves institutions of all their functions and goals.
The activities of the opening session of the conference included speeches by Mr. National Security Adviser Qassem Al-Araji, the conference supervisors, a number of developers and representatives of international companies, while the session concluded with honoring the representative of the Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi, for personalities representing the Ministry, institutions and supporting companies, while the exhibition was opened for companies specialized in geospatial technologies and cities. Smart on the sidelines of the conference, which will last from the sixth of February until the eighth of the same month.
