The College of Dentistry at the University of Karbala, in cooperation with the Directorate of National Security in Karbala, organized an educational and awareness seminar on electronic extortion, in the presence of the Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs, Professor Dr.
The symposium aims to clarify the methods and methods used by the weak-minded, and how to protect themselves from blackmailers, in cooperation with the community police.
The symposium included introducing the concept of extortion, its types and target groups, as well as the damage suffered by the victim as a result of the threats and pressures used by the extortionists after targeting the victim.
The attendees praised the valuable information presented at the symposium, which contributes to how to deal with extortion.
At the end of the symposium, the most important recommendations were addressed, including avoiding the misuse of social networking sites, opening links that link to personal accounts, cautioning against using unreliable programs or applications, using strong and complex passwords, informing the security authorities immediately after extortion, to limit the spread of this phenomenon and control it. Protecting citizens from it, as it is considered one of the serious crimes that have spread in recent years.
