Prof. Dr. Ali Hussein Abd Swelim, a lecturer at the University of Karbala, chaired the discussion committee for the thesis of the Iraqi board student, Dr. Mustafa Adnan Al-Janabi, entitled The Role of Axillary Scraping of Lymph Glands and Conservative Surgery in Breast Cancer.
The discussion included the importance of following the surgical procedure that preserves the breast tissue and not raising the entire breast with lymph node removal and the use of chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
The study proved the effectiveness of the limited surgical intervention and the exclusion of traditional surgeries by full breast lift.
The study recommended the need for complementary work between the surgeon, the oncologist, and the specialty of radiotherapy, and the work of a team of several specialties to reach the best results.
