Intravenous sedation
This method uses a sedative drug that is injected intravenously into the bloodstream. The patient retains his ability to speak in this way, but loses much of his concentration, and may not remember most of what happened during treatment. During this type of sedation, the pulse, blood pressure, and breathing rate are measured continuously, and the patient needs a companion to take him home and stay with him for the rest of the day.
