A master’s thesis in the College of Science at the University of Karbala discussed the isolation and identification of Staphylococcus aureus from different sources and their partial characterization.
The thesis submitted by researcher Fatima Salem Obaid was titled “Isolation and Identification of Staphylococcus aureus from Various Sources and Partial Characterization”.
The study aims to assess the risk of infection with methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus in Karbala Governorate.
The thesis included studying the resistance of aureus bacteria to other antibiotics and the relationship of this resistance to biofilms, studying their ability to produce hemolytic and proteolytic enzymes, and partially characterizing Staphylococcus aureus.
The study concluded that there was an increase in the rates of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus in Karbala governorate, which was matched by an increase in the bacteria’s resistance to other antibiotics, as well as its production of some virulence factors. .
It recommended the preparation of nano-beta-lactam antibiotics, testing its effectiveness on methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, and studying other virulence factors.
