This injury is characterized by being very painful. The patient comes suffering from severe pain accompanied by gingivitis, redness, and bleeding. The distinguishing feature is the destruction of the apex of the gingival papillae, and the appearance of the pseudowhite membrane, which is a layer of dead human cells separated from the epithelial layer.
