The results of the study conducted by scientists showed that yogurt with added probiotics helps in treating depression.
Experts from the Dutch University of Leiden conducted a unique study, the results of which showed that the microorganisms found in dairy products are able to improve human mood.
Participated in this study, which lasted four weeks, 40 healthy people, each of them was asked to take two grams of food ingredients “probiotics” or dummy ingredients, mixed with water or milk.
The answers of the participants in this study, to the questions posed to them by the experts, showed that those who consumed the real food ingredients felt their mood improved and they became less aggressive. These nutritional components also help in the formation of beneficial bacteria in the intestines that improve the metabolism process.
Scientists concluded from this study that the nutritional components found in yogurt, for example, positively affect human mood and help treat depression and improve digestion and skin condition.
It is noteworthy that previous studies have shown that gut bacteria can change the level of the amino acid “tryptophan”, which is related to the production of the hormone serotonin, which, as is well known, shows signs of depression in a person when its level is low.
