What is tooth decay?
The hard outer layer of the teeth is called enamel and when the tooth enamel is destroyed, it can cause the tooth to break down and wear away, and this is tooth decay.

Tooth decay occurs at any age. Plaque is a sticky film of bacteria, and it is constantly formed on the teeth regardless of what you eat and drink, and if the plaque cover is allowed to remain on the teeth, the bacteria in it will produce acids that attack the tooth enamel, and since it is sticky, these acids remain sticky to the teeth, and cause decay and erosion the teeth.

Bacteria growing in dental fillings or neglected corners can affect the gums as well, and decay may spread rapidly, leading to tooth erosion.
