After dental surgery, pay attention to the following points:

  • Please keep this sheet for one week and review it once a day.
  • Press the gauze piece on the surgical area for 4 hours tightly by the teeth.
  • Then gently remove the gauze pad, rinse your mouth with cold water, and drink cold juice or eat ice cream.
  • Try to talk less the first night, especially in the first four hours after surgery and tooth extraction.
  • Between now and two days, there is a possibility of a small leak of blood from the area that makes the saliva red.
  • Between now and two days, avoid drinking from straws and spitting for two days from now.
  • From now until two days, avoid doing strenuous work or lowering your head for two days from now.
  • From now until two days, avoid eating hot foods. Eat cold or lukewarm foods.
  • From now until two days, do not exercise, and do not go to the pool or sauna.
  • From now until two days, you do not smoke and you can smoke lightly for the first week.
  • Try not to touch the surgical site with your tongue and do not touch the sutures.
  • Make sure you eat a good, nutritious meal, drink plenty of fluids and eat fortified snacks.
  • It is better to eat soft foods and not use chips, nuts and similar foods.
  • If you feel the stitches open, it should not be a problem.
  • Make sure to raise your head slightly above your body when sleeping.
  • Oral hygiene is very, very important in the first week after surgery.
  • From the day after tooth extraction, the entire mouth is brushed except for the surgical area.
  • Don’t brush your teeth tonight and rinse your mouth with a mouthwash before bed.
  • Use a mouthwash containing chlorhexidine and benzydamine every eight hours the day after tooth extraction.
  • You can rinse the surgical site with a syringe containing chlorhexidine mouthwash with gentle pressure.
  • Take your medication exactly as described on the back of this leaflet, and at exactly the right time.
  • Put an ice bag for twenty-four hours on the face for ten minutes at ten-minute intervals
  • From the day after tomorrow, apply a warm, wet compress to the face for 20 minutes at 20-minute intervals
  • You may have difficulty opening your mouth, and you can treat this problem with a hot water bag
  • Your mouth will not smell good for about a week and you may have a bad taste.
  • If swelling or pain increases on the fourth day after surgery, contact your doctor.
  • If you are taking other medications for other medical problems, continue with the previous medication regimen.
  • Refer to the doctor after a week to have the stitches removed.
