Wisdom tooth pain when extracted

The American Dental Association recommends that people get their teeth checked before the age of 20 to see if their wisdom teeth are developing or decaying. If necessary, a qualified dentist or skilled oral and maxillofacial surgeon can perform the operation for wisdom teeth on an outpatient basis. While the surgery and wisdom tooth extraction is usually performed under local anesthesia, the patient does not feel pain or discomfort. But the pain does happen after surgery, and that’s when the anesthetic wears off. The recovery period after surgery begins once the wisdom tooth extraction is complete.
