Orthodontics before surgery would be a great way to fix the problem of crowding and irregularity of the teeth because the jaw surgeon cannot perform jaw surgery until the teeth are in order. Therefore, the prerequisite for surgery is orthodontics, and postsurgical orthodontics are used to increase the coordination of surgical jaws, improve dental arrangement, correct any dental abnormalities, and install surgical treatment.

The surgery is performed in the hospital under complete anesthesia. If the upper jaw is set back, it is called “Maxillary deficiency”, the patient must undergo surgery to direct the jaw forward, and this is called Maxillary advancement. If the upper jaw is set forward, then the patient suffers from maxillary protrusion. The upper jaw must be pulled back, which is called Maxillary set back surgery. If the patient suffers from a backward lower jaw, it is called mandibular deficiency. The lower jaw must be brought forward by a surgery called mandibular advancement.

If the patient suffers from forward mandibular prognathism, in other words he suffers from mandibular prognathism and will undergo mandibular set back surgery. If the patient has a deep bite or an open bite, he will undergo Lefort surgery. It should be noted that this treatment is a group treatment performed by the orthodontist and the maxillofacial surgeon simultaneously. The treatment process must be done correctly, otherwise it will be difficult to achieve the right results. Oral and maxillofacial surgeries are minimally invasive treatments that often require only a day in the hospital.
