Dangers of Fluoride for Children: Dental Fluorosis

Excessive exposure to fluoride can cause a change in the composition of enamel in children. Known as dental fluorosis, it occurs in the form of white spots on the surface of the teeth.

This risk is greater in children who are in the stage of final tooth formation, which directly affects enamel maturation.

For this reason, and in order to limit the amount of fluoride that children can swallow when they do not yet know how to properly spit out toothpaste residue, it is important to use toothpastes that are adapted to each child’s age.
