The College of Education for Human Sciences at the University of Karbala witnessed the discussion of a master’s thesis in the Department of Arabic Language, titled (Amr Ibn Kulthum between its ancient and modern scholars).
The researcher indicated that criticism and literature are inherent in terms of origin and development through the ages, both of which are concerned with taste and beauty, and both are based on being affected by the described and then the emotion, and the systems of interconnected words that express this influence with the described.
The importance of the topic stems from the importance of ancient Arabic literature as the collection of the Arabs, which preserved their exploits and virtues, and is the main carrier of their culture and life.
The study reached several results, including that Amr Ibn Kulthum was one of the authors of the Mu’allaqat, and his status in pre-Islamic poetry rivaled that of many poets, even if he did not have a known collection.
