Good oral health means showing off a beautiful smile and white teeth. However, taking into account the appearance of the gums is equally important, to ensure a good attachment of the teeth to the maxillary bone.
Healthy gums have a light pink color and are firmly attached to the surface of the teeth. If instead they are inflamed, bleed while brushing, eating or touching food, and usually have a reddish coloration, they are symptoms of infection.
Often we do not realize that our gums are not completely healthy because we do not pay enough attention to them. In order to be able to have an accurate follow-up, it is essential that you go for dental check-ups once or twice a year in order to detect periodontal disease in its early stages.
Dentists can assess when the gums are not 100% healthy. The sooner the problem is detected and the causes of gum damage are identified, the better the patient’s prognosis.
