When does tooth decay occur?

Cavities are the result of a combination of a number of factors. From the presence of these oral bacteria or the moisture conditions present in the oral cavity, to the availability of food residues that are used to metabolize them, as well as the insufficient cleaning of the teeth.

There are areas of the mouth where food tends to accumulate frequently. The surface of the back molars, the spaces between the teeth or the line between the tooth and the gums are some of them.

The bacteria begin to form a layer of biofilm on the surface of the enamel, which over time damages the tissue and spreads. Once a small opening or hole is formed, the expansion of caries in the tooth is greatly accelerated.
