The College of Education for Human Sciences at the University of Karbala discussed a master’s thesis in the Department of History on the Unity Party and its political role in Turkey “1966-1980”.

The study attempted to clarify the role of the Unity Party in Turkey and its treatment of the issues of the Alevi community in particular and Turkish society in general during its presence in the Grand National Council during the period (1966-1980).

The importance of the study comes from the fact that the Turkish Unity Party, since its inception, is one of the important parties that practiced political work and had an influence in most of the situations and crises taking place in Turkey, in addition to its role in forming coalition governments.

The study reached several results, including that the Unity Party established a group of different personalities with varying intellectual affiliations, brought together by personal interests to achieve political gains, which weakened the party, and splits occurred in its ranks during its political career.
