It’s the dentist who treats them, if the gum recession is moderate, even a deep cleaning of the affected area is performed. During this process, also known as dental curing or root planing o raspado and radicular smoothing (depending on the desired depth), plaque and tartar that have accumulated in the tooth and root surfaces below the gum line are carefully removed. In addition, the exposed root zone is smoothed out so that the bacteria will have difficulty adhering to it again.
If gum recession has progressed, and tooth cleaning is not sufficient, surgery may be needed to repair the damage.
