As for the way the “cold sore” virus infects the infected person and causes damage, doctors say that the appearance of cold sores and blisters occurs as a result of the damage caused by the herpes virus to the skin, and as a result of this virus multiplying greatly within the infected cells, and then the area of the skin in which it multiplies begins to redden. [11]
It also causes a state of itching and minor pain for the infected person, and this is evidence that the virus is active, multiplying and spreading.
During the period of ulcers and blisters, this person is at the most infectious time, especially if some of these blisters burst, and the person remains contagious until he is completely cured of this condition and the skin returns to normal.
There can be some cases of infection with this virus that do not appear on these sores or pimples, and these transmit the disease and the virus through saliva, as it facilitates the transmission of the virus through body fluids.
In the event that children are infected with the “cold sore” disease, it causes sores and blisters around the mouth, and causes some pain to the child, and they appear and disappear [12].
In the case of infection in newborns, it becomes more serious, as well as in children with weak immunity.
It was a common mistake that the “cold sore” disease results from cold diseases, but studies have shown that the cause is infection by the herpes simplex virus.[13]
