Teething requires solid food to soothe the gums
The baby may chew or bite on the mother’s nipples to soothe irritated gums.
If the baby continues to bite, milk can be pumped and fed in a bottle, or nipple shields can be used.
The child may be irritable and cranky, and may have sore gums and irritability, which leads to decreased appetite.
The child may rub the cheeks and gums or pull the ears due to the irritation of the gums.
The baby may drool more than usual, and excessive drooling can cause a rash.
