Gum recession has several symptoms and a prominent orthodontist can detect the presence of this disease in a patient through these symptoms. The most common of these is the emergence of the lower part of the teeth, which should normally be covered by the gums. Other signs of gum recession include: “Bleeding after brushing, redness and inflammation of the gums, bad breath, exposed tooth roots, loose teeth, and brown discoloration at the ends of the teeth.”
