Beware of infection

The biggest cause of early failure in the integration stage of the implant with the bone is infection or insufficient stability of the implant in place. While the latter is related to the technique of the operation and the surgeon, the injury to the implant will depend a lot on the aftercare. Regular rinsing with medicated mouthwashes, using chlorhexidine-impregnated cotton swabs or very soft toothbrushes to remove food particles from the surgical site, and using the surgeon’s prescribed antibiotics up to the last dose at regular intervals are effective.
