Diagnosis

Usually, a dentist can detect tooth wear by:

• Asking about toothache and its sensitivity
• Examine your mouth and teeth
• Check your teeth using dental tools to check for soft areas
• View x-rays of the teeth, which may show the extent of tooth decay and erosion
  Your dentist will be able to tell which of the three types of cavities you have — smooth, pitted, or root.
