A master’s thesis in the College of Engineering discussed the design and simulation of an intelligent system for managing and operating a balloon that uses a buffer against raging water during coastal floods using a smart balloon that operates with a wind turbine generator.
The thesis submitted by researcher Sarah Ghanem Obaid Al-Husseini included the design and simulation of an intelligent system to manage and operate a cylindrical balloon made of special materials that automatically acts as a buffer against raging water for the purpose of absorbing the sudden momentum of marine water hammers caused by coastal waves using fuzzy logic control and advanced control methods to control the speed of air pumps. To ensure the air tank is full in normal and emergency conditions.
The letter recommended, through the results obtained, the possibility of adopting the model proposed in the letter to protect people or residential complexes near water sources and coastal waves when strong winds blow or during peak coastal waters.
