A doctoral thesis at the College of Education for Human Sciences at the University of Karbala discussed the characteristics of the workforce and spatial development projects for the Holy Shrine of Hussein in the Holy Governorate of Karbala.

The problem of the study revolves around the geographical variables that explain the variation in the characteristics of the workforce and spatial development projects for the Holy Shrine of Hussein in the Holy Governorate of Karbala.

The objectives of the study are to explain the characteristics of the workforce and the spatial development projects of the Holy Shrine of Hussein in a way that contributes to diagnosing the development reality according to the methodology of geography, which takes distribution, variation and spatial relations as its field.

The study concluded that there was a large discrepancy in the areas where the workforce resides at the Holy Shrine of Hussein. The percentage of those who lived in the Holy Karbala Governorate was (90.96%), while the percentage of those who lived outside the Holy Karbala Governorate constituted (9.04%) of the total workforce.

The study recommended the necessity of holding some specialized courses and technical workshops periodically for all workers at the Holy Imam Hussein Shrine, each according to his specialty and type of work, in order to unify the set goals and achieve them.
