The presidency of the University of Karbala held a scientific symposium in the presence of the university president, Professor Dr. Bassem Khalil Al-Saeedi, his assistant for scientific affairs, Professor Dr. Najm Abdul Hussein, and the assistant deans for scientific affairs, along with the registration directors and rapporteurs of scientific departments and branches in the various colleges of the university, and a number of university teachers and employees. The symposium discussed the transfer mechanism. Administrative work from paper to electronic for the current academic year 2023-2024 and the creation of an electronic system for registering students, professors, and employees.
Professor Dr. Bassem Khalil Al-Saidi said that the symposium comes to urge university colleges to introduce modern technological systems into administrative work. In his speech, Al-Saidi called on the professors, deans of colleges and heads of scientific departments, to be tools for the success of this modern experiment, indicating at the same time that he will be honored. Distinguished colleges in implementing the new system, and Professor Dr. Najm Abdul Hussein commented about this electronic system: “It will be an administrative and educational system at the same time, and we, at the presidency of the University of Karbala, are trying, through ministerial directives, to (digitize) the work, that is, to transform administrative work from paper work to Electronic work, and we will work to develop a set of systems to perform this purpose.”
In conclusion, the Director of Student Affairs and Registration/Chairman of the Central Committee, Professor Dr. Mushtaq Karim, explained the goal of the system, saying: “The goal of this electronic system is to create an integrated database for students, professors, and academic subjects, as well as to support e-learning in the university’s colleges and departments, and this is the direction of The Ministry is moving towards electronic governance and automation for all universities, and the next steps will be to conduct field workshops for all colleges and at different levels for registration divisions, rapporteurs of academic departments and branches, and assistant deans to clarify the advantages of the new system.”
It is worth noting that the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research had previously directed the need to move towards electronic governance, due to the facilities it provides in completing official transactions and correspondence.
