The College of Education for Humanities at the University of Karbala discussed a doctoral thesis in the Arabic Language Department that dealt with social phenomena in the poetry of Sheikh Ali Al-Sharqi (d. 1964 – analytical study).
The study included four chapters, the first of which dealt with the patterns of social phenomena in Al-Sharqi’s poetry, the second chapter dealt with the social contents in his poetry, and the third chapter dealt with the self and the other in Al-Sharqi’s poetry and concluded with the fourth, which was an artistic study of Al-Sharqi’s poetry.
In his study, the researcher used the descriptive approach based on analysis and the sociological approach, as it was closest to the nature of the subject and its details.
The study aims to explain the social phenomena that dominated Sheikh Ali Al-Sharqi’s poetry.
Among the findings of the study is that the poet was distinguished by his poetic taste and his commitment to the ancient poetic style based on meter and rhyme, in addition to the poet’s upbringing in the literary and cultural environment of Najaf, which had a major role in directing poetry.
