The College of Education for Human Sciences at the University of Karbala witnessed the discussion of a master’s thesis in the English Department, which dealt with the sociolinguistic aspects of communication among children on the autism spectrum at the Al-Sabtain Academy for Autism and Developmental Disorders.
The study presented by researcher Sahar Hamoudi Kazem examined the social-linguistic dimensions of communication among children with autism enrolled in the Al-Sabtain Academy for Autism and Developmental Disorders.
The importance of the study from an academic standpoint is that it provides a comprehensive overview of the sociolinguistic aspects of communication among children with autism.
The study seeks to achieve a number of objectives, including exploring the sociolinguistic aspects of disorders in children with autism at Al-Sabtain Academy, in addition to the impact of applying the ABLLS-R program on basic learning skills in children with autism.
Among the findings of the study is the possibility of identifying the sociolinguistic aspects of disorders among children with autism at Al-Sabtain Academy through analyzing their communication patterns, their use of language, and their social interactions.
The researcher developed a number of recommendations, including the importance of teachers and specialists at Al-Sabtain Academy continuing to give priority to individual learning plans and safety for children with autism spectrum disorder, as well as the need to take into account all communication tools, including spoken language, non-verbal communication, and written language.
