The English Department at the College of Education for Humanities at the University of Karbala discussed a master’s thesis entitled (The Representation of Vladimir Putin in CNN’s online news reports in the period before and after the invasion of Ukraine: a critical discourse analysis).
The importance of the study comes from its portrayal of Vladimir Putin as a political figure through media discourse, via CNN before and after the invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
The study examined Vladimir Putin’s speeches before and after the invasion of Ukraine, linked to the recurrence of some expressions in these two periods.
The study aims to identify the precise structures used to represent Putin before and after the invasion of Ukraine, and to know the rhetorical strategies used.
