The Times Ranking issued the results of its edition of Arab universities for the year 2023, which conducted an evaluation of two hundred and seven educational institutions from fifteen countries.

Twenty-six Iraqi public universities, as well as a number of private universities, achieved important competitive ranks for the first time in the Times Arab University Rankings (https://www.timeshighereducation.com/world-university-rankings/2023/arab-university-rankings?page= 2#!/length/25/sort_by/rank/sort_order/asc/cols/stats), where the University of Baghdad ranked (40), followed by the Universities of Technology (=50), Mosul (51-60), Babylon (61-70), and Basra. (61-70), Al-Nahrain (71-80), Al-Mustansiriya (71-80), Kufa (81-90), Al-Anbar (101-120), Tikrit (101-120), Karbala (121-140), Al-Qadisiyah (141-160), and Al-Qasim Al-Khadra ( 141-160), Diyala (141-160), Kirkuk (141-160), Wasit (141-160), Al Ain (161+), Al-Furat Al-Awsat, Technical (161+), Al-Mustaqbal (161+), Al-Muthanna (161+), Al-Islamiya (161+), and Technical Central (161+), Maysan (161+), Northern Technology (161+), Southern Technology (161+), and Dhi Qar (161+)

Competing universities are subject to evaluation according to twenty performance indicators within five main axes: teaching (31%), research environment (31%), research quality (24%), international outlook (8%), and society (6%).

It is worth noting that Iraq achieved 37th place in the world in the Times World Classification for the year 2024 through 13 Iraqi universities that registered their competition and presence in the classification in which 1,904 universities from 108 countries around the world competed.
