A master’s thesis at the College of Science at the University of Karbala discussed the diagnosis of some genotypes in the yellow maize plant, Zea mays L, using molecular indicators.
The study presented by researcher Ali Karim aimed to estimate the genetic variation and genetic relationships between the genotypes of the yellow corn plant using some molecular techniques and to find the distinctive genetic fingerprint of the studied genotypes.
The study concluded that the Scot indices are an effective tool for analyzing genetic diversity and are more efficient than total seed protein in detecting genetic variation and knowing the sequences of nitrogenous bases for ten of the maize plant structures, and recording five in the NCBI Global Gene Bank.
The letter recommended adopting Scot indicators with DNA in other genotypes of plants and conducting a comprehensive study that includes knowing the protein pattern and identifying the proteins produced by the plant under different stress conditions.
