A doctoral thesis at the College of Law at the University of Karbala discussed the role of applied sciences in criminal judicial reasoning, presented by researcher Hassan Hadi Neama.

The study aims to demonstrate the role of integration between applied social sciences, such as mathematics, physics, and chemistry, and criminal law, especially in proving acts that the law considers criminal.

The study concluded that there is a positive interaction between applied sciences and criminal law, especially since they are not inactive and self-sufficient sciences, but rather go beyond their jurisdiction to interact with the law, especially in the field of criminal evidence.

The study recommended the need for the Iraqi legislator to amend the relevant laws and include the Directorate of Criminal Evidence within the formations of the Supreme Judicial Council.
