A master’s thesis at the College of Science at the University of Karbala discussed the evaluation of variation in some immune parameters and the effect of some naturally produced plant substances in patients with middle ear infections.
The thesis submitted by researcher Dhi Abdel Jalil aimed to evaluate the relationship between the types of pathogenic bacteria isolated from patients with otitis media and the levels of some interleukins in the patients’ serum.
The study concluded that S aureus and P mirabalis are among the most common bacterial causes of otitis media, and that there is a significant relationship between recurrent infections and upper respiratory tract infections with the development of otitis media and a significant interaction in the levels of interleukins in otitis media.
