The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, honored more than one hundred winners of the Iraqi Al Ain University Award in its fourth edition for the year 2024, which included pioneering researchers, top universities, authors of highly influential research, authored books, and distinguished female academics.
This came during the honoring ceremony, which was attended by a group of representatives, deputies, university presidents, general directors, teachers, and researchers, where the Minister of Education emphasized in his speech the importance of scientific research in addressing development problems, pointing out at the same time that the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has set a strategic goal for its institutions related to environmental quality. The Academy is strengthening the publishing space in established journals, establishing global partnerships with international libraries and publishing institutions, launching open accounts for teachers, researchers and students in Scopus, adopting a successful policy and decisions to stimulate scientific research through direct financial and moral support, and initiating the establishment of central scientific laboratories.
He added that the Ministry places scientific research at the top of its priorities, pointing out that this vital field represents a fundamental focus in developing services and achieving comprehensive progress, and that the decisions taken and the policy adopted in this path develop the incentive to produce qualitative research and encourage innovation and development with the aim of serving society.
The honoring ceremony included speeches and a presentation by the Undersecretary of the Ministry, Dr. Haider Abdul Dahd, the President of the Iraqi Al Ain University, Dr. Shafiq Shaker Shafiq, the representative of the Elsevier Foundation, the representative of Iranian universities, and the representative of Malaysian universities, while the event concluded with honoring the university presidents whose institutions achieved a positive indicator in the field of scientific publishing.
