A master’s thesis at the College of Medicine at the University of Karbala discussed the role of adiponectin and oxidative status in the development of polycystic ovary syndrome in Iraqi women.
The study presented by researcher Yasmine Emad Kazem aimed to find out whether women with polycystic ovary syndrome have any difference in the levels of Adiponectin and the occurrence of oxidative stress in the obese and non-obese group or not, and the relationship of this to insulin resistance.
The study concluded that the low level of Adiponectin in groups of patients with polycystic ovary syndrome is related to body mass index.
