A master’s thesis at the College of Pharmacy at the University of Karbala discussed the effect of OAT2B1 and CYP2C8 Transporter Metabolizing Enzyme genotype polymorphisms on the response to montelukast treatment in children with asthma.
The thesis submitted by student Hasna Haider Muhammad aimed to study the effect of genetic polymorphisms of the OATP2B1 transporter and the CYP2C8 enzyme on the response to Montello Cast treatment.
The study concluded that there are genetic polymorphisms in the carrier gene OATP2B1 c.935G>A and the gene CYp2C8*1B g.-271C>A in a sample of the Iraqi population, and there was a significant association between the OATP2B1 c.935G>A polymorphism and the response to montelukast.
