The Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit at the College of Dentistry at the University of Karbala organized a course entitled (The health and psychological effects of drugs, their dangers, and how to treat them) in Al-Zahraa Hall in the college, in which the teacher, Fadel Nima Shalabh, and the assistant teacher, Haider Nihad Abdel Hamid, lectured, in the presence of a group of male and female students from the college.
The course, which was held under the slogan (Drugs and their Negative Effects on the Community Fabric), aims to enhance the concept of preventive education among college students, as well as introduce attendees to the physical, psychological, social, and economic harms of drugs, as well as introduce methods for drug prevention and control.
The course included introducing attendees to the danger of drugs and their harm to the individual, family, and society, and the reasons for their spread among members of society, as well as the most prominent methods and means of drug dealers among young people or through social media, in addition to the most important methods of drug prevention and early response, and how to deal with an addict, win his affection, and remove him from the condition. The session recommended the necessity of adhering to what was stated in the Holy Qur’an and the purified Sunnah of the Prophet with everything related to reviving the common sense of man. It also recommended the necessity of achieving integration and cooperation between governmental security agencies, governmental institutional bodies, and civil and charitable agencies in the field of combating drugs, and the participation of various media outlets in raising awareness about drugs in Iraqi society, as Drugs pose a real threat to the societal fabric and thus threaten to break up the family.
