A master’s thesis at the College of Education for Human Sciences at the University of Karbala discussed artistic photography in the book Al-Afzaliyat by Ali bin Munjib Al-Sayrafi, submitted by the student Osama Salem Hamza Jabbar.

The thesis included three chapters preceded by an introduction. The first chapter dealt with the tributaries of artistic photography, while the second chapter reviewed the means and styles of artistic photography, while the third chapter was devoted to the poetic language of the artistic image.

The importance of the study lies in its shedding light on one of the works of the poet and prose writer Ali bin Munjib, known as Ibn al-Sayrafi (d. 542 AH), one of the major Egyptian writers of the Second Fatimid era.

The study concluded that the Book of Preferences was distinguished by its abundance of poetic evidence, which in turn strengthened the inferences in the subject of the study.
