The QS World University Rankings by subject announced the results of its 2024 edition.

The classification (https://www.topuniversities.com/subject-rankings) evaluated universities according to academic specializations, which amounted to fifty-five subjects, in light of indicators related to academic reputation, employer reputation, the impact of faculty research, and international research cooperation, while the results of the classification included 1,559 subjects. Institution of the Year out of 4,989 universities whose data was analysed.

The University of Baghdad achieved positive results in the following specializations:

▪️ Engineering-Petroleum (101-150)

▪️ Engineering-Mechanical (301-350)

▪️ Engineering-Chemical (351-400)

▪️Engineering and Technology (344)

▪️ Engineering-Electrical and Electronic (351-400)

▪️ Computer Science and Information Systems (551-600)

▪️ Medicine (551-600)

This version of the classification indicated remarkable progress in the competitive ranks of the specialized faculties of the University of Baghdad, especially engineering and medicine, which engaged in significant competition within the environment of specializations around the world.

It is worth noting that Iraq ranked 37th in the world after 13 universities achieved competitive positions in The Times classification, while Iraqi universities and colleges recorded their increasing competition in other global classifications, including the Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects for the year 2023, in which they appeared. The University of Baghdad is included in the specialty (Dentistry & Oral Sciences), the (QS) classification, in which there are five universities, the (Scimago) classification, in which there are forty-seven institutions, the (Greenmetric) classification, in which the number of Iraqi educational institutions has increased to seventy-four universities and colleges, and the RUR classification, in which there are Forty-five Iraqi universities, in addition to the Webometrics classification, which recorded the attendance and competition of more than a hundred Iraqi universities and colleges.
