The College of Education for Pure Sciences at the University of Karbala discussed a master’s thesis entitled
(Phenotypic and molecular diagnosis of Aspergillus spp fungi isolated from the air in specific areas between the Two Holy Mosques in Karbala Governorate), by the student Muhammad Hakam Atwan.
The thesis aimed to identify the rates of spread and pollution of atmospheric air in the area between the Two Holy Mosques in Karbala Governorate with the types of Aspergillus fungus and diagnose it at the phenotypic and molecular levels. And identifying species that are pathogenic to humans in the study area.
The thesis included work on collecting samples from the air using a steel sampling device (Air Simpler System) in Karbala Governorate in specific areas between the Two Holy Mosques, which included an open area and a covered area, as well as diagnosing fungal species phenotypically using traditional methods and molecularly using PCR technology.
The message emphasized conducting a comprehensive study of all types of fungi isolated from the same area and using a sampling device for its efficiency and accuracy in identifying fungal contaminants, which is very important in the early stages to avoid their health risks, and finding appropriate solutions to avoid the spread of fungi in cooperation with the relevant authorities.
