A doctoral thesis at the College of Education for Human Sciences at the University of Karbala discussed Sibawayh’s effort in light of interpretation of meaning and appreciation of parsing, presented by researcher Hussein Jassim Abdel Reda.

The study adopted the interpretive method, that is, the scientific interpretive and analytical method that suits Sibawayh’s approach in presenting the words of the Arabs.

The study aimed to differentiate between interpretation of speech and its parsing, as Murad Sibawayh’s intent becomes clear if he distinguishes between interpreting the meaning and assessing the parsing.

The study concluded that the interpretation and estimation of parsing is a confused term among the people of Arabic, and confusion has occurred in it. Sometimes they call it the estimation of meaning and at other times the interpretation of parsing, and sometimes the parsing takes precedence over the meaning.
