A doctoral thesis at the College of Education for Human Sciences at the University of Karbala discussed the concept of transitivity according to Sibawayh in light of the theory of opening grammatical fields, presented by researcher Asma Mutashar Fashakh.
The thesis included four chapters. The first chapter dealt with grammatical function and transitivity. The second chapter dealt with the transitivity of the verb to grammatical functions. The third chapter examined the structures operating the function (the verb), and the fourth chapter explained transitivity and the symptoms of constructions.
The study aimed to establish the theory of opening grammatical fields and reveal its validity in light of the texts of Sibawayh.
The study concluded that the concept of the factor according to Sibawayh is a structural, formative concept that represents the creation of fields, the generation of words, and their organization on the surface of the language.
