The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, emphasized the contribution of university institutions in developing scientific programs and specialized research in the field of combating terrorism and confronting extremism.
This came in his speech during the joint scientific conference with the Counter-Terrorism Service, where he explained that the Iraqi strategy to combat terrorism paid attention to the role of higher education institutions in this field, and identified a set of policies that aim to strengthen the mission of these institutions in the areas of combating violent extremism that leads to terrorism.
He added that universities make a positive contribution in this regard by spreading awareness and educational programs, in addition to giving a special dimension to scientific research, conducting specialized studies, and providing training opportunities through programs that qualify young people and enable them to confront and resist negative ideas and enhance their skills in critical thinking and problem solving.
For his part, the head of the Counter-Terrorism Service, Lieutenant General Karim Abboud Al-Tamimi, praised the direct scientific work of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and its universities in the fields of combating extremism and confronting terrorism and contributing to the implementation of this national mission in cooperation with the competent security institutions.
