Assistant President of the University of Karbala for Administrative Affairs, Professor Dr. Akram Mohsen Al-Yasiri, participated in the activities of the closing ceremony of the writing competition organized by the Scientific Academy at the al-Abbas Shrine, as part of the Qur’anic project for students of Iraqi universities and institutes.

Dr. Akram Al-Yasiri, during a speech delivered by a representative of the University of Karbala at the closing ceremony of the writing competition, stressed the necessity of investing Qur’anic teachings in daily life and activating the role of the Holy Qur’an to supplement the value system.

Al-Yasiri touched on the importance of the role of the Qur’an in social upbringing, mentioning at the same time the hadith of al-Thaqalayn, which emphasizes the necessity of adhering to the Book of God and the People of the House, may God’s prayers be upon them.

He pointed out the existence of a general culture in society derived from the religious culture of the People of the House, peace be upon them, calling on all universities to uphold the word of God Almighty, and to give the Holy Qur’an great attention. This is because of the role it plays in spreading religious awareness in the Islamic community.

Al-Yasiri appreciated the efforts made by those in charge of Quranic activities and events at the holy shrines.

The closing ceremony of the written competition was attended by the Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs, Professor Dr. Najm Abdul Hussein Al-Janabi, the Dean of the College of Administration and Economics, Dr. Hashem Al-Husseini, the Dean of the College of Science, Dr. Hassan Jamil, and a number of university professors.

The competition aims to spread the culture of the Holy Qur’an and the People of the House (peace be upon them) in the souls of students, as it included (50) knowledge questions from the Holy Qur’an, morals, jurisprudence, and beliefs.

More than ten thousand students, male and female, from various Iraqi governmental and private universities and institutes participated in the competition, while the closing ceremony witnessed the honoring of the winners of the competition, students from colleges and institutes.
