The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, directed the automation of assessment tests for the academic year 2024/2025 and to proceed with the steps of establishing a college specialized in artificial intelligence.
This came when he chaired the fifth meeting of the Opinion Commission 2024 in the presence of advanced staff members and heads of all public universities, where he stressed keeping pace with global knowledge and its developments and completing university procedures with a deliberate shift to electronic services that are part of the interest of citizens.
He urged the continuous updating of curricula and educational programmes, paying attention to developing students’ skills and qualifying them to interact with the local and global labor market, and intensifying work to support the technical and vocational education sector, which constitutes the basic infrastructure for developing human talent and capabilities.
The attendees discussed a number of topics on the agenda and voted positively on the following decisions:
▪️ Preparing a strategic plan to support and develop research centers and study centers and strengthen their scientific fields in universities.
▪️Establishing the Department of Health Physics and Radiotherapy Technologies at the College of Engineering Technology at Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University.
▪️Creating a Marketing Management Department at the College of Management and Economics at Tikrit University.
▪️Introducing evening studies in the Department of Translation at the College of Arts and the Department of Artificial Intelligence at the College of Computer Science and Information Technology at Anbar University.
▪️Introducing evening studies in the Medical Physics Branch of the Physics Department at the College of Science at the University of Babylon.
▪️ Approval of the evaluation form for the Higher Diploma Project Discussion Committee.
The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, concluded the meeting by directing all universities to take into account the requirements of the general examinations for preparatory studies that will be conducted in the environment of public and private universities and to contribute to the success of the examination process and respond to the requirements of the public interest.
