The Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Islamic Sciences at the University of Karbala organized an electronic symposium on child labor in Iraq, its causes, solutions and how to address it, in which Dr. Alaa Abdul Kadhim Jabbar and Dr. Alaa Abdullah Al-Dhahi lectured.
The symposium aimed to shed light on child labor and the concept of childhood from the point of view of law and to explain the implications of child labor in Iraq from a legal and religious point of view.
The symposium recommended the need to tighten the supervisory role of the state, especially the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, over the private sector and commercial shops in Iraq, and to impose penalties on violators of children’s rights.
