The College of Science at the University of Karbala organized an educational symposium on the International Albinism Awareness Day, in which Professor Dr. Iman Talib Karim and Professor Dr. Narges Hadi Mansour lectured.

The symposium aimed to introduce albinism, its types, causes of its occurrence, how to diagnose it, therapeutic and preventive measures, and guidance for those afflicted with it.

The symposium included an introduction to International Albinism Day, the reason for designating the thirteenth of June every year as an international day for awareness of it, and the most important problems facing people with special needs, especially those with albinism.

The symposium recommended establishing kindergartens and schools in every Iraqi governorate specifically for people with albinism and their pairs with other healthy children, with the aim of allowing each to accept the other with the help of experts in the psychological, social and educational aspects, in addition to developing the skills of the child with albinism and refining his talents and experiences according to his capabilities after subjecting him to a program for early detection of his personal preparations. And the establishment of integrated medical departments in the main hospitals in each governorate, equipped with all the necessary devices and equipment to detect what suffers from people with albinism.

This symposium comes in line with the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research regarding the necessity of organizing seminars and awareness campaigns that highlight awareness of International Albinism Day.
