The Student Activities Unit at the College of Dentistry at Karbala University organized a field visit to the College of Materials Engineering at Babylon University under the auspices of the Dean of the College of Dentistry. The delegation comprised a group of third-year students supervised by Dr. Ilham Hadi.
This visit aims to introduce college students to the devices used to measure the properties of materials of all kinds, including polymers, metals, and ceramics, which can be used in the future for the student’s graduation research regarding the production of dental materials for fillings.
The field visit included a meeting with the college’s dean, who spoke about the importance of the College of Materials Engineering and its connection to other colleges, including dentistry. It also included an introductory tour of the major devices available in the college’s various laboratories and how to use them, such as the Instron machine for measuring strength, the electron microscope for viewing the microstructures of materials, and the impact testing device, among others.
