The teaching assistant at the College of Dentistry at the University of Karbala, Assistant Lecturer Abd al-Rida Muhammad Abd al-Rida, published a scientific research in the international journal “DARU” of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
The study, titled “Vactosertib potently improves anti-tumor properties of 5-FU for colon cancer,” aimed to explore the therapeutic possibilities of Vactosertib and its effect on the process of development and growth of cancerous tumors in the colon and rectum in both cellular and animal research models.
The study concluded that this substance has effective anti-tumor effects in the colon and rectum, as it reduces the development of cancerous tumors when consumed by increasing the immune response against cancer cells by stimulating programmed cell death and oxidative stress, in addition to stopping the life cycle of the cancer cell while reducing the cell migration process. Cancer and thus prevent the spread of cancerous tumor.
The DARU Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences is published by the international publishing house Springer in the United Kingdom. It is one of the journals ranked second in the world, Q2, and has an impact factor of 4.3 in the Scopus rankings.
